Vancouver Art gallery is very close to EC school. I visited it this Wednesday afternoon after my class. There are total 3 floors and 3 topics on views:
I didn't think much and went inside: the ticket price is $30 CAD, I was a little surprised because I thought it would be < $20. I asked the front desk lady : Could I pay less by only visit one of the floor? She seemed surprised and answered" NO"😅.
After I visited all the 3 floors, I only got a conclusion: I really don't know art....at all
1st floor:Poets, Locks, Cages by Artist Parviz Tanavoli:
After I went home, I googled the artist Paris Tabavoli: He is a Iranian artist who made something out of nothing. His story could be found in website. These are supposed to be very meaningful arts...just I don't know how to appreciate it....
2nd floor: it's about fashion, still not my type. I don't know why the gallery doesn't provide "Audi guide" to help us understand more....and quicker?
3rd floor: Conceptions of white.... They play the Vedio of the Quebec Poet Michele Lalond Reading her poem "Speak White". This famous speech talked about how Quebec people were forced to speak English in 1968 (Very similar like Taiwanese were forced to speak Chinese long time ago). Of course, I googled to know this history. It's better to study it before you visit a gallery😓.
