Mobi Bike (Whenever you're too tired to walk)

The reason I choose my hotel "Level Downtown Howe" is because it's close to my EC school, at lease I can go there by walking. However, it's 10 min away from the nearest Metro station and it takes around 18 min to my school. I'm not sure if I can stand for walking so long every day. So I found a better way to solve this issue. In Taiwan, we have "U-bike", and in Vancouver, there is another share bike called "Mobi". I never ride U-bike in Taiwan before and now I'm riding "Mobi" in Vancouver. It's really convenient! There are many bike exclusive lane in downtown and the rental stations are all ground the city. The rule for Mobi is interesting, there are many plans and some for short term, some for a month or a year. And interesting rule is " you have to return the bike" in 30 min, or you need to pay extra. But within 30 min, you can ride the bike as many times as you want. The is a timer in the bike and if you find it's close to 30 min, return it to the nearest station and rent again. I bought the 30 DAY PASS, it cost $39 CAD. But I was lucky when I was going to pay, the Mobi staff member just happened to be there and he gave me a promote code (50% off)😍I only need to pay ~$20 CAD (500NT) for a month😆. (Remember to disable "auto-renew" in your APP "My plan" if you only want to 30-day rental)

You can download the APP of Mobi and it will show all the stations and how many bikes remain in case you fail to get a bike. The App also shows what kind of bikes  are available, class bike means normal bike, you can take it as exercise. And E-bike can save your energy, but please be aware of that e-bike cost 25 cents/min, even you buy a 30 DAY PASS ☝️!

E-bike is more popular and the App links to  google map, so you can return it when its's almost 30 mins.

After one week riding experience, I found it's important that you memorize  where are the stations and which road has bike exclusive lane. It's not only safer but save your time.

The App of Mobi will need a phone and email verification of your ID. After you log in, they will provide you a code, and you will also need to set up your own Pin code. With the 2 codes, you are ready to unlock the bike!

PS. Please make sure the destination you want to go still have available「Dock」, or you may spend more time finding the available dock than by walking. Especially those busy places, Metro stations...etc. It happened to me in the first week. It normally takes me 17min by walking to school. I thought  I could be school in 10 mins, but it turned out totally 30 min, including finding available dock and walking from station to school....😭.

Compass Card (for Metro and Bus)

Compass is like Taiwan's EasyCard but only for transportation. The deposit of card is $ 6 and you can add value to it. There are many blogs describes the detail for the Comapss, it's convenient, and most important of all , it's cheaper than single fare.
